Illinois residents age 21 and older may now possess up to 60 grams of cannabis flower, 1,000 milligrams of THC in infused products, and 10 grams of cannabis concentrate. Adults visiting from outside Illinois may possess up to 30 grams of flower, 500 milligrams of THC in infused products, and 5 grams of concentrate.

The law describes these as possession limits. In practical shopping terms, a dispensary cannot complete a transaction that would put you over the applicable limit.
Rule 1: Illinois resident limits doubled in June 2026
Public Act 104-463 took effect June 12, 2026. The previous resident limits of 30 grams of flower, 500 mg of infused THC, and 5 grams of concentrate are no longer current. The new resident limits are 60 grams, 1,000 mg, and 10 grams.
Rule 2: Visitors receive half of the resident limits
Adults who are not Illinois residents may possess up to 30 grams of flower, 500 mg of THC in infused products, and 5 grams of concentrate. Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID showing that you are 21 or older. Review our Illinois dispensary ID guide before your first visit.
Rule 3: The three category limits are cumulative
Flower, infused products, and concentrates are separate categories. An Illinois resident may possess products in all three categories at the same time, up to the limit for each category. You do not have to choose only one category.
Rule 4: Edibles count by THC milligrams
Infused products such as gummies and drinks count by their total labeled THC, not by the physical weight of the package. Rule 5: Vape oil and extracts count as concentrate
Concentrates include products such as wax, live resin, and the cannabis oil in many vape products. These products count toward the concentrate limit by weight.
Rule 6: Medical cannabis follows a different program

Do not use cannabis in public, in a motor vehicle, or anywhere else prohibited by Illinois law. Keep products securely stored away from children and pets, never drive impaired, and never take cannabis across state lines.
