Pekin, Illinois
The Pekin dispensary that's community-rooted, social equity licensed, and built to serve the people who live here β Pekin's first locally owned adult-use cannabis store.
We sit at 359 Court Street in downtown Pekin, right across from the Tazewell County Courthouse, in the heart of the Marigold Capital of the World. So we're not a chain and we're not a hedge fund. We're your neighbors, and this is our hometown dispensary.
Fair prices. Real people. No corporate playbook.
Pekin's Local was born from a simple belief: the people of Pekin deserve access to legal cannabis from someone who actually lives here.
Located at 359 Court Street in the heart of downtown, across from the Tazewell County Courthouse, we're a social equity licensed dispensary built by and for this community. Because we navigated the Illinois licensing process firsthand, we know what it took to get here.
That's why we chose Court Street on purpose. We wanted a storefront on the square, in the daylight, where your neighbors shop β not a windowless box on the edge of town. When you walk in, you're greeted by people from around here who know the difference between Pekin and the next town over, and who answer to this community first.
So we're not a chain. We're not a franchise. We live here β and we plan to be a good neighbor for a long time.
“Cannabis should be accessible, legal, and local. That's what we're building at 359 Court Street.”
Pekin's Local Dispensary & Supply is operated by Miggy's Shop, LLC, founded by two partners who built it the right way, right here at home: Miguel “Miggy” Mulholland and Thomas Howard.
The dispensary holds an Illinois Social Equity Adult Use Dispensing Organization license. Illinois built the Social Equity program to open ownership to the people and communities the old cannabis laws hit hardest — and Miggy qualified through exactly that lived experience: a prior cannabis-related arrest and his home in a Disproportionately Impacted Area.
Pekin's Local is also majority veteran-owned — Miggy, a U.S. veteran, owns 51% of the business. We renovated a historic building on Court Street, itself in a Disproportionately Impacted Area, and reopened it as a clean, modern, locally owned dispensary — reinvesting in the community the program is meant to lift up. In short, we think a dispensary owned by people from this community should feel like it, and that's the standard we hold ourselves to every day on Court Street.
Our mission is simple: make cannabis accessible, legal, and genuinely local for the adults of Tazewell County β with fair prices, real people, and no corporate playbook.
We're locally owned and we reinvest in Pekin. We hire locally and look to Tazewell County first, so your money stays closer to home when you shop with us.
We hold an Illinois Social Equity license and we're committed to a more open, more just cannabis industry β starting with how we run this one store.
Pekin's Local is majority veteran-owned — our majority owner is a U.S. veteran. That service background shapes how we show up: do what you say, take care of your people, and don't overcomplicate it.
First-timer or daily driver, our budtenders meet you where you are. Ask anything. No judgment, no pressure, no upsell games β just straight answers from people who know the menu.
A dispensary is only as good as the people behind the counter, and ours are the heart of Pekin's Local. Our team is hired from right here in the area β neighbors, not transfers β and they're the reason a first visit so often turns into a regular one.
They'll walk you through the menu at your pace, answer your questions in plain language, and help you find what fits without the pressure. So whether it's your first legal purchase or your fiftieth, you'll get the same welcome. In short, ask about Local Rewards on your next visit β it's our free loyalty program, with savings applied as dollars off your retail purchase.
We opened our doors with a ribbon-cutting hosted by the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce on June 27, 2026 β a true hometown welcome, with neighbors, local officials, and a line out the door on Court Street.
It was the moment years of work became a real storefront on the square: Pekin's first locally owned adult-use dispensary, open and serving the community.
There's history in this address. Court Street is the civic spine of downtown Pekin, anchored by the Tazewell County Courthouse just up the block β a 1914 Beaux-Arts landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. The riverfront at the foot of Court Street hosted the very first Pekin Marigold Festival in 1973, the celebration that earned this town its “Marigold Capital of the World” nickname, thanks to hometown U.S. Senator Everett Dirksen's campaign to make the marigold the national flower. We're proud to be part of that same street.
